UGC Atlantic City is part of the $1,000,000 Gears of War Pro Circuit that was introduced shortly after the release of Gears of War 4. Hosted in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the Open tournament had a $200,000 prize pool, and a large Pro Point prize pool to give away. The major is the first eSports event that Atlantic City has ever seen, and has been received amazingly, with sponsorships and team pass sales being very high for a Gears of War event. The event will take place from March 31st until April 2nd, having 3 stages: Open Bracket, Pool Play, and the Championship Bracket. The open bracket is open to any team to purchase a team pass to play in, and is a double-elimination style tournament. The teams 4 teams that get to the winners quaterfinals are invited into the Pool Play bracket with 12 other invited teams. The teams that make it to the losers quarterfinals are then pushed through to the losers side of the championship bracket. Pool Play is a round-robin with 4 pools, 4 teams in each (3 invited, 1 put in through the open bracket) where the top 2 teams from each pool move on to the winners side of the championship bracket, and the lower 2 teams go on to the losers side. The championship bracket is then played out like any normal double-elimination bracket. Our Gears of War team will fly out and compete through the open bracket.
